POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE 14TH WORLD CONGRESS OF WOMEN
The 14th World Congress of Women’s Organizing Committee (WW) regrets to announce the postponement of the event to September 2021 due to uncertainties over the rapid spread of the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus – COVID-19. The event was initially scheduled to be held from 21 to 24 September 2020 in Mozambique. However, consultations with different groups, movements, national, regional and international institutions guided us for its postponement.
The Organizing Committee of WW 2020 supports COVID-19 prevention care measures announced on March 20th by the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi (Check out more information). Mozambique has confirmed cases of COVID-19 infected people and the State of Emergency is in place for the period between the 1st and 30th April 2020
Given this situation, the Organizing Committee of the “Women’s World” Congress, which has been in permanent contact with the authorities, considers pragmatic to postpone the holding of its 14th edition to September 2021. Next year, the event will take place during the interim week, according to the academic calendar, with the consent of the Vice-Chancellor of the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM).
The Organizing Committee continues the preparations for the event. The Scientific Committee is analyzing all sent proposals and will contact Proponents of the Workshops for more information.
We express our solidarity to women who, all over the world, live and challenge the pandemic and who will be, again and mainly in developing countries, one of the most impacted groups by COVID- 19.
We are thankful for your understanding and continued interest in participating and supporting the Congress. We offer our warmest feminist greetings.
The Organizing Committee
Isabel María Casimiro
